Name That Green – Round II

And now on to Round II of Name That Green. We’ve been growing this one, nonstop, since November, but only in the past month has it really come into abundance. A hardy plant, it blends nicely with arugula and basil. This should be an easy one for well-bred and chichi to quickly identify.

    Tancho beat me to the punch with chervil — even though it looks a bit leggy from what I can recall in my old herb garden on Oatfield.

    Mizuna Japanese greens, spider mustard. I think you should order one of the gourmet salad mix packets of seeds..


    • Nope again, Norma. Different family, but you’re getting close. I used to buy mesclun and other blends, but they always struck me as too little seeds for the money. And then they started bulking it up with chicory and arugula, which takes over.

      I think someone pulled a fast one on everyone in the 80s, convincing us that arugula was to be prized. It’s got its place, but the damn stuff is damned near a plague.
